Science – The Digestive System  (perfect for supplementation to Cycle 3 Week 6 of Classical Conversations)

This illustration of the digestive system is hilarious.  I love it!  My favorite find of the night.

Of course no kid can go without watching Schoolhouse Rock’s Body Machine.  It’s awesome.

The Digestive System Animation video on YouTube is also good.

Kids Health on YouTube has one too.  And here is their article for kids (for non-readers, there is a read-aloud option!  I love that.)

Another one here – from my childhood I think, but still good.

Can you tell I love videos?  Here’s one called Digestive System for Kids by Make Me Genius.

Biology 4 Kids has some great info for kids on the digestive system.

A good, simple manuscript-tracing worksheet can be found towards the bottom of this page (good for younger ones).

E-Learning for Kids has a great online lesson about the digestive system.

Here is a detailed digestive system worksheet.

Use random household items to lay out a model of the digestive system.

Kids get a basic overview at Fact Monster.

See amylase in action and create a stomach at The Homeschool Scientist.

This is a great activity sheet for upper elementary or older students with a higher understanding of the subject.

Finally, more advanced readers and those seeking more in-depth facts can take a look over at National Geographic’s resource.

This resource list is glad to be included in Half-a-Hundred Acre Wood's Weekly Link-Up
