Make Atomic cookies!  Fun!

Here’s a fun Science experiment/lesson plan to discover the process of breaking down a large number of atoms into a single atom.

In The Teacher’s Café, teach the basics of what is an atom, plus find links to quizzes, videos, puzzles, reading comprehension worksheets and other activities you might find useful.

In this forum thread, find some really creative suggestions of ways to teach about atoms and molecules from a hands-on approach .

There’s a little gem hidden in the center of this page at Funtastic Unit Studies – find the link within the fourth paragraph or so, the one that says “Molecules Unit” – and you’ll find a unit study about Atoms and Molecules.  It’s really good!

Chem4Kids has a good overview of Atoms and Molecules with descriptive illustrations.

5th Grade Rocks has lyrics to a really cute song, “The Atoms Family.”

This honestly blew my mind, it’s a “Build and Atom” game.  I had no idea what I was doing, but I built Hydrogen!

On Jefferson Lab you’ll find a tour of atoms.
